A Tea Company is Born
In Sri Lanka, one is introduced to the culture of tea drinking before they can walk. Alloro Hill’s founder and president, Ahilan had a childhood that was not any different than this. Although he was born and raised in Maryland, his Sri Lankan parents instill him with the love of the world’s best tea from a very early age. This passion for his motherland’s beloved beverage brewed in him for years. He coupled this with the realization that iced tea too deserved to be made from the same quality tea leaves that his taste buds had become accustomed to. So in 2005 he set out to bring the world the best iced tea they had ever tasted. Founded in his own home, Alloro Hills has already caught the attention of several major restaurants in the nation. Not a surprising task for an energetic new company and a fantastic tea!
 

What’s in the name?

In Italian, "alloro" means laurels. This plant that has been used to honor and celebrate achievement, and crown those who stand out from the crowd. We found this to be a fitting name for the hills from which such distinguished tea is grown.
